"It's got everything the strip offers and free parking to boot"

I agree that the hotel casino and rooms are showing their age but it's still a heck of a place for both families and singles. You don't need to leave the grounds for anything if you don't want to. The freebies and discounts are great and if you are a veteran or active service person, you've got to go there on Veteran's Day. The buffet is free and has just about anything you would want to eat. If you are football fan and like your beer, go there on a Sunday and cozy up to any bar for your $1 beers from 10 AM to 4 PM. Fortunately for me, I was both a veteran and a beer lover and stayed at South Point on Veteran's Day. Needless to say, I was quite happy with my choice of a place to stay in Vegas.

"Spa Day"

I had the pleasure of spending several hours at the spa. It was a great experience. Once you pay for a service you have the use of the facilities for the entire day. They have a stream room, sauna, cool pool, hot tub and a room you can relax in. I recommend this to anyone. The staff was very pleasant and the prices were very fair.

"Not worth being treated like a piece of dirt"

Absolutely in shock with this hotel. Today I was trying to get down to the pool where my service dog was. The evaluator door closes and it violently drops 2 or 3 times to the degree that it could have knocked me down. I waited a min and immediately tried to text or call my husband and had no cell service and wifi was not accessible. I opened the phone box with no phones in the elavator. I even tried to call 911and my cell didnt have service. I could feel an anxiety attack coming on. I pushed the call button, and they couldnt hear me, when I think he could he said we will look into it. I waited a bit still struggling to breathe and be able to see through my tears. I call again and the security guard said that they were on it. Some time pasted and I finally heard someone yelling to me me outside. Being that I was hyperventilating, it was hard to get the words out. Long story short.. they came in and gave me oxygen and kind to tell me to breathe but holding my breath for several seconds. Once they finally found my husband and I was able to take my medication, I walked up to the room and passed out, because that's what the meds do. Once awake we went downstairs to speak with the director Shelly I have never been spoke to so rude, everything I said was met with an arguement. I said I was in there for 30 mins, and she immediately said well it was 19 mins. 19mins 30mins either way I encourage someone to have trouble breathing for either amount of time and see how well you can function. We told her that there was no phone in there and we were called a liar, so we went and took pics that there are no phone in the one I was stuck in or the other that we rode up on. I wish I could post the audio recording of the way she spoke with us. She says I'm being disrespectful to her and I wasnt hardly rude at all. She said something about compensating, and I told her this wasnt about compensation. I told her I was blown away at the way she was speaking to us and said you realize we could sue yall for all this, she then said by using the term sue, we wont compensate anything. That's great because we didn't ask you to. We have stayed here for years because of the PRCA, never again. I was fine till I spoke with Shelly, now they have another thing coming. All could have been settled with a small amount of courtesy and professionalism, that clearly South Point doesnt have. Unbelievable.

"Buffet Under Renovation"
TripAdvisor user rating 4 out of 5
Reviewed December 06, 2018 NEW
One of our favorites for convenience and reasonable pricing. Recently the buffet area has been under renovation, but despite it the food selections have been adequate. Service is always been consistent with quick and efficient attention. Salad bar is usually stocked with many choices, but this visit it was limited. When the area is fully finished with the renovation, it no doubt will be back to par. Because of the renovation, 'renovation' prices were available.

"Rooms still nice, but starting to show some age."
TripAdvisor user rating 4 out of 5
Reviewed December 05, 2018 NEW
We spent 4 nights at South Point as we favor local properties and like the mix of gaming and non-gaming amenities. It has been about 5 years since our last stay, and while the rooms are still large and in relatively good shape the bathroom and furnishings were starting to show a little age. Just feels like they could use a little paint and some new linens. Our room on the 4th floor overlooked the pool and was very quiet. Very rarely heard any noise out in the hallway, and the weekend we were there the hotel was nearly full for the rodeo. Beds were comfortable and it was nice to have pillows with some loft. Plenty of closet and drawer storage for clothes and incidentals. Good shower pressure, liked that the shower warmed up quickly. We did miss having a refrigerator in the room, and will get an upgraded room with one when we return in the spring. Hubby does not gamble all that much, so it is nice to have the big pool area and fitness center and movie theater to keep him amused. We also like the choice of restaurants, a lot of variety depending on what you are in the mood for. Just wish service was a little quicker at the Del Mar deli. Overall a good stay, still our favorite locals property. Will be back in early May for a quick stay after visiting some family on the mainland.
