"Very nice room."

I have stayed at El Cortez ogden house twice now Cabana suites. The room was nice and comfortable. Very nice front desk clerks at the time of my first visit. Went back again because of the friendliness of the staff. This time I stayed at the El Cortez Tower where the casino is. The room was nice, comfortable bed and soft pillows. I love the room set up and all the amenities inside the room. The front desk staff Allen is supper friendly and nice. He answered all my questions in a friendly manner. The manager John was very nice when I confronted him in his office about something. He took care of it. I have no problem about the room except the bathroom drains slowly other than that my stay was lovely. Housekeepers are quick to respond to my needs. Great staffs. I love the hotel will visit again. Easy access to public transportation and Downtown Fremont Experience. Victoria O

"Slots & Staff WOW in a Bad Way!"

I'm not a gambler. I don't do it as a habit nor for pleasure. I decided to play a little at the slots as I'd done in other casinos and was still learning even how to play these fancy machines. There is no one on the floor to help. It's the most bare bones casino I've ever been to where no one seems to work or care. I found a security guard and he found someone for me to show me how to use the machine. She was not interested but spent a little time telling me. I ended up spending $10 and lost everything I earned because it kept putting the credits back into the play and I didn't know what was going on. Other casinos keep them separately as I had learned and you get to cash out your winnings. I assumed that was what was going to take place here also. When I finished and couldn't find the credits I had seen winning, I found the same woman. She couldn't understand what the problem was or was pretending. She said people just cash out as they want. So I guess you hit cash out every time you win? Makes no sense. She didn't care. She was laughing when I was trying to ask her about the points it said I accrued. I was trying to see if the credits went elsewhere. She said they're worth nothing. I will not be going to this place for anything! In an area where there are 100s of similar casinos lining the landscape, you don't need to go to one such as this.

"Cockroaches and horrible customer service!"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5
Reviewed November 27, 2018 NEW
The El Cortez hotel and casino is such an awful disgusting place. If I could give a negative star I would. First they messed up my and my mother's room reservation and would not fix it. When we finally got to our room there were cockroaches crawling over the nightstand. I called down to the front desk and they were so nonchalant about the roaches as if it was just a normal thing. None of the staff attempted to fix the problem nor did they try and compensate us. Dirty and horrible customer service. Please don't waste your money here!!! I have video of the bugs but I cannot upload, here's a screenshot.

Real nice "Old Style" casino in Downtown Vegas just off Fremont street. Staff is friendly games are new. Casino is clean. Great Blackjack. I really like the iced beer coolers in the pit available for players. Less crowded and fun place to go to when in Vegas.
